Online is not the same as usable. Check the image itself.
The camera that matters most in an investigation is often the one with a fogged dome, knocked angle or frozen frame - failures no availability check can see. IOSentra analyzes actual frames from your cameras and flags the ones whose image stopped being evidence.
Why image quality needs its own monitoring
Image degradation is gradual and invisible to network monitoring. Lenses fog and collect dirt, focus drifts, IR illuminators fail, brackets get bumped a few degrees, encoders freeze on a stale frame. Every one of those cameras stays green on a status board while quietly producing footage that cannot identify anyone or anything.
The only way to catch these failures is to look at what the camera actually produces. IOSentra pulls sample frames on your schedule and scores them for the conditions that ruin footage - then treats a failing image exactly like any other verified fault: an incident, an owner, a fix, a re-check.
Conditions IOSentra detects
Blur and focus loss
Sharpness scoring catches defocus, condensation and dirty optics before the one recording that matters is unreadable.
Blackout and severe under-exposure
Dead sensors, failed IR at night and covered lenses show up as dark-frame failures.
Tamper conditions
Obstruction and radical scene changes - a camera pointed at a wall is a failure even when it streams perfectly.
Frozen scenes
A stuck frame that pretends to be live is compared over time and exposed.
Privacy by architecture
Image checks run without storing your video. Frames are analyzed in memory and discarded; only a small perceptual fingerprint - a numeric hash that cannot be turned back into an image - is kept for comparison. IOSentra can tell you a camera's image degraded without ever holding a copy of what that camera saw.
Image quality monitoring FAQ
Does image analysis mean my footage leaves my network?
Frames are fetched for analysis, processed in memory and discarded. Only a numeric fingerprint is kept. Recorded footage stays on your recorders.
How often are images checked?
On your schedule per site or camera group - typically aligned with the rest of the health checks so image, recording and availability results arrive together.
What happens when a camera fails an image check?
An incident opens for that camera with the failed condition (blur, blackout, tamper, freeze) and can automatically create a routed service ticket.
Does this work for cameras behind a VMS or NVR?
Yes - frames are pulled through the recorder, VMS or directly from the camera depending on the integration, so mixed estates get the same image assurance.
Ready to take control?
Every camera records. Every device communicates. Every issue is tracked. Every ticket is resolved.
